Sunday Soirée: Alma Y Alma
June 26, 2016

SUNDAY, JUNE 26th, 2016 | 7:00PM - 9:00PM

Come bask in the traditional Mexican folk music of Rocio Mendoza and her band             Alma Y Alma for our weekly Sunday Soirée.

Rocio Mendoza is a singer, performance artist and purveyor of the cultural experiences of a Mexican-American immigrant. Born in Colima, Mexico, Rocio grew up in Mendocino County where she was first exposed to Mexican folk melodies. She has appeared in numerous music videos as a dancer/performer including Black Eyed Peas, Carlos Santana and N'Sync. She is featured on Raphael Saadiq's Grammy Nominated album "The Way I See It." Rocio performs in cultural venues throughout the greater Los Angeles area.

Alma Y Alma is a musical trio that originated in Los Angeles, California. They offer a fresh take on a musical genre that may be considered non-existent in our generation. Rocio Libertad Mendoza (lead singer), Gilberto Rodriguez (guitar/bass), and Jesus Martinez (requinto) are a three piece band on a journey, in prospect of sharing "Bolero" style music with various people and cultures.  Alma Y Alma performs a range of traditional Boleros and Mexican folk songs handed down from family and ancestors.  "We believe it is our duty to keep the history of Bolero music alive."  Alma Y Alma celebrates heritage and tradition.
