The Los Angeles Bread Festival is back! Get ready to carbo load as Grand Central Market hosts the fourth annual Los Angeles Bread Festival on June 2 and 3. The free, two-day event is a celebration of Southern California's artisanal bread renaissance and an invitation to the public to experience the many expressions of L.A. bread at its best.

The centerpiece of the festival is a pop-up marketplace showcasing local bread bakers, as well as bread-centric workshops and demonstrations. Among the bakers and purveryors setting up shop at the pop-up marketplace will be Antigua Artisan BreadChallah Hub, Clark Street Bread,  Ensaymada Project, Fat Uncle Farms, Good Gravy BakesHomeboy Bakery, Maury's BagelsM. Greenwood JamsPBJ.LASweet Oak Bakery, and The Underground Bakery.  

Back by popular demand, "Feel the Churn Butter Aerobics" will get the crowd's heart racing with a butter-making workshop. Other family-friendly events include demos and workshops led by Grand Central Market vendors including Chiles SecosClark Street Bread, and Olio Wood-Fired Pizzeria chef Brad Kent. Additional workshops led by guest bakers help you learn how to make focaccia, pita, biscuits, challah and more. All sessions are FREE. See below for the full schedule:

Saturday 

10 a.m. – Feel the Churn Butter Aerobics  Work up a sweat while transforming a jar of cream into butter! Reserve your spot here.

11 a.m. – Herb-Infused Pita Bread Demo – Join Clemence Clemence Gossett of the Gourmandise School for a super-fast, herb-infused pita bread demo and baking (with a little bit of hands-on action). Bring a container if you'd like to take home some sourdough starter. Reserve your spot here.

Noon – Savory & Sweet Panzarotto With Olio Wood-Fired Pizzeria – Olio Chef/Owner Brad Kent teaches you how to make these Italian stuffed breads. Reserve your spot here.

1:30 p.m. – The Whole Truth of Whole-Grain Bread With Clark Street Bread – Zack Hall, owner/baker of Clark Street Bread shares the tricks of the trade for making heavenly whole grain bread at home. Reserve your spot here.

2:45 p.m. – Biscuit Basics With Good Gravy Bakes – Be the best kind of flake! Learn how to make flakey, Southern style biscuits with Beth Kellerhals of Good Gravy Bakes. Reserve your spot here.

4 p.m. – Focaccia With Friends & Family – Learneverything you need to know about making the classic Italian flatbread at home with Friends & Family Pastry Chef/Baker Roxana Jullapat. Reserve your spot here.

Sunday 

11  a.m. – The ABCs of Bagels With Olio Wood-Fired Pizza – Olio Chef/Owner Brad Kent gives you a trusted recipe and step-by-step instructions for making perfectly chewy, fresh bagels. Reserve your spot here.

12:30 p.m. – Hands-on Challah With Challah Hub – Roll up your sleeves and get ready to learn everything you ever “knead” to know about braiding tasty challah with the carb-loving ladies of Challah Hub. 1:45 p.m. – Home Milling With The King’s Roost Roe Sie, the owner of The King's Roost (one of the only stores in the country that sells home grain mills) will discuss the differences between the flour you buy in the store and fresh-milled whole-grain wheat flour, show home milling techniques and explore sourdough starters. Reserve your spot here.
