Egg Slut opens in Grand Central Market
November 08, 2013

"Egg Slut, the eggy-bacony food truck helmed by Alvin Cailin, has set up shop in downtown historic marketplace Grand Central Market.

On Friday, Egg Slut opened at 7 a.m. and was sold out for breakfast by 11, reopening for lunch at noon. Operating hours will be 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.

[Updated: On opening day Egg Slut went through all of its supplies for the whole weekend; it will reopen Tuesday morning.]

Located front and center on the Broadway side of Grand Central Market, which is undergoing a sweeping makeover, the Egg Slut stand features a long row of counter seating.

The ovo-centric menu includes sandwiches on house-made brioche buns such as the bacon, egg and cheese with hardwood smoked bacon, over-medium egg, cheddar and chipotle ketchup; the Fairfax, with soft scrambled eggs, chives, cheddar, caramelized onions and Sriracha mayo; and the sausage, egg and cheese, with house turkey sausage, over-medium egg, cheddar and honey mustard aioli. More options include scrambled eggs on toast, egg salad, the Avo burger with a third-pound patty and organic egg, and the Nita sandwich, with braised pork shoulder, egg and chimichurri.

The signature Thee Slut, coddled egg on smooth potato puree in a glass jar, and steak and eggs are listed among the specialties, along with a breakfast burrito and sunny-side-up egg-topped nachos."
