If you're a baker or want to be, or just really, really love great bread, you might want to head to Grand Central Market in downtown Los Angeles this weekend for the Los Angeles Bread Festival. Organized by the folks at Grand Central, the bread festival will be held Saturday and Sunday, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days.
The two-day festival will feature a flour-milling demo from Pasadena's Grist & Toll urban flour mill; a tortilla-making demo by Grand Central's own Chiles Secos; a panel discussion on Southern California's Latino bread heritage, moderated by Gustavo Arellano of OC Weekly; a bread-baking demo by Mark Stambler of Pagnol Boulanger; a sourdough demo by Erik Knutzen; and a communal bread bake, with a mobile wood-burning oven.
This, and much more, will all take place at Grand Central, the circa 1917 food court in downtown Los Angeles, which also has plenty of other options if you need more than bread. DTLA Cheese and Belcampo Meats, for example, carry some pretty good stuff to pair with your bread.

The festival is free and open to the public. We're told they're already thinking about a second festival next year, so if you can't go this weekend, there's always 2016.
