You'll soon be able to sip a beer at Grand Central Market well after dinnertime. Beginning June 3, the market will be open until 10 p.m. every day, and many of the vendors plan to offer in-the-evening-only specials.
Among the participating market stalls are Bar Moruno (the downtown outlet of the Original Farmers Market Spanish restaurant and bar, scheduled to open by June), Belcampo Meat Co., Bombo, Chiles Secos, China Cafe, Courage & Craft, Berlin Currywurst, DTLA Cheese and Kitchen, Golden Road, Horse Thief BBQ, Jose Chiquito, Knead & Co Pasta Bar + Market, La Huerta, La Tostaderia, Las Morelianas, Madcapra, McConnell's Fine Ice Cream, Olio, the Oyster Gourmet, Ramen Hood, Roast to Go, Sticky Rice, Sticky Rice II and Valerie.
Sorry, fried egg fans. Egg Slut is still a daytime-only vendor, and not on the list.
Some of the evening-only specials include booze-infused ice cream from McConnell's (the whiskey and pecan praline ice cream will be spiked with Kentucky bourbon) and a queso dip from DTLA Cheese.
The vendors also plan to host a market-wide happy hour, with specials from 6 to 7 p.m. every Monday through Friday, also launching June 3.
Other planned events for the market include DJs on Fridays, live music on Saturdays and Sundays, a monthly Artists & Fleas market to coincide with Downtown Art Walk every second Thursday of the month, game nights the first Thursday of every month, movies on the Horse Thief patio on Wednesday nights and a free shuttle service that will take you from dinner at the market to downtown L.A. entertainment venues (Staples Center, the Music Center, Orpheum Theatre).
The market is currently open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday to Wednesday, and 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday to Saturday. The new hours will run through Sept. 22.
