So why did we decide to do a cookbook?
The GCM Cookbook was written by GCM’s Adele Yellin and Kevin West, the Market’s co-creative director from 2012-2016, with recipes contributed by every food vendor. Photographer Johnny Autry shot the pictures over a week in the Market in January. His trip coincided almost to the hour with a “pineapple express” that dumped floods on Los Angeles, but somehow you’d never know from the pictures that he was shooting in the rain. Johnny and food stylist Charlotte Autry (who is also Johnny’s wife) then took the recipes into their studio to create the amazing food “portraits” that accompany the recipes.
The book’s October release coincides with the Market’s other 100th anniversary celebrations.
